Every time a see a school bus on the road delivering or picking up kids, I am reminded of and humbled by the magnitude of the job that driver is performing.​

School bus drivers are such an important part of the web of support for our youth. They not only provide a safe journey transporting children to and from school (while managing behavior problems), but also can be a familiar, reliable and trusted mentor actively helping our children by offering a listening ear, giving words of encouragement or a friendly smile. Bus drivers have a unique “view” and role in a child’s life as they may be the first and last person to see the child coming to school or going home. Their observations of changes in a child's mood, behavior, and interactions with other children can be a significant and vital contribution towards ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children who ride the bus.
