This is a photograph of a letter I received from a middle school student who had historically struggled in school academically and behaviorally. She was in an unsafe situation at home but was afraid to tell anyone because she didn't think anyone would believe her. Giving her the space to share her story without judgement changed the course of her life drastically. As adults, it is not our job to "doubt" a child's lived or even perceived story. It is a privilege to hear them and a responsibility to help them.​
