Trailer Park
Trailer Park
Thin, frail pieces of 40+ year old metal house many children and youth in Franklin County. In this particular park, are original trailers from the 70s. Unenforced rules, sub-leasing, little to no streetlights, potholes, large breed dogs, some on chains, some running around, 100s of feral cats, rotted wood stairs, trash everywhere, sheds with people living in them, the smell of rubber tires burning, the sounds of domestic violence, and much more, are the many, many hidden secrets within this area. After a decade of data collecting, only a handful of youth have graduated high school from this park. The majority have signed out to home school. When an individual told Mother Theresa they were going to leave their home and travel to work with her, she responded, “Find your own Calcutta.” Dear reader, Calcutta is here in our community.
