​As a 7-yr old child, I get off the bus and walk to my apartment building. I stand at the top of the stairs contemplating before I walk down to my apartment, "What will I find behind the door?" Will my mother be asleep in her bed? Will there be food in the refrigerator?" My chest tightens as I anticipate my older brother getting off the high school bus. Will he hit me tonight? Will he call me names? My stomach starts to turn.
